Dear Colleagues,

We have the great pleasure to invite you to attend the 8th International Symposium on Optical Materials (IS-OM8), which will be held at the beautiful Ossoliński National Institute in Wroclaw (Poland) on June 9-14, 2019.

IS-OM8 will continue the tradition established by the previous meetings headed by Prof. Tsuguo Fukuda (IMR, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan) and Prof. Georges Boulon (LPCML now ILM, UCBLyon1, France) in Singapore (1997), Lyon, France (2000), Keystone, USA (2003), Prague, Czech Republic (2006), Pisa, Italy (2009), Shanghai, China (2013) and Lyon, France (2016). The symposium provides an interdisciplinary forum for the presentation of the latest developments and breakthrough in fundamental researches and practical applications in the broad field of optical and optoelectronic materials, including material design technologies and crystal growth, structural and spectroscopic characterizations and application related issues.

The symposium will be organized by Faculty of Chemistry, University of Wroclaw, Poland, 161 Committee of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and  the Institute for Materials Research (IMR), Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan.  
Accompanying scientific exhibition will be organized as well. Conference will be sponsored by both private industries and public institutions. An industry session has been scheduled for industrial partners to present their business and their need to improve their products.
Invited lectures will be given by leading scientists to introduce the conference sessions. Oral and poster presentations will create the body of the conference program. The best posters presented by PhD students will be awarded. A Special Issue will be published from oral or poster presentations in a Scientific Journal.
In addition to scientific sessions, we would like offer our participants the opportunity to meet in a less formal atmosphere during social events held in nice places of our city.
